The Underworld Surfaces!
Something strange has started happening in Storybrooke. While the town can never really consider itself normal, generally there's a sense of normalcy amidst the chaos. But ever since the heroes got back from the Underworld, things have been even worse than before. The dead coming back to life- former villains that had been so tough to put down the first time now back and roaming around like nothing had happened- was of course the top of strange list, but not the only concern.
People have been reporting sightings of strange creatures, some even going so far as to say they were attacked by one or two of them. Citizens have been swarming the hospital with strange cuts and wounds, while other people, well, either vanished without a trace or were found turned completely to stone. The police station has been inundated with reports of the missing, break-ins, general destruction and vandalism, all on top of the strange reports of multiple seemingly magical creatures roaming the town and the forest around it.
Investigation into the creatures, based on descriptions and a lot of books checked out of the local library, revealed a short list of just some of the monsters that have been seen around town. Descriptions (as well as the beast they're likely to be) include:
All these creatures have been labeled as EXTREMELY dangerous and it is advised not to engage them in battle unless you are someone with considerable skill and/or magic. Even then, their dark powers seem capable of besting even strong magic users. They are very volatile and seem incapable of speech, like wild animals despite sometimes having human-like appearances.
The attacks are becoming more and more frequent, like more of these creatures have been gaining access to Storybrooke... somehow.
With Storybrooke in danger once more, everyone is looking for answers. The heroes need to figure out where this apparent leak from the Underworld is and how to patch it up ASAP. The villains? Well, these creatures aren't the most agreeable sort, mindless as they seem to be, so perhaps uneasy alliances may have to be forged. That, or a skillful hand at putting people in the wrong place at the wrong time so these monsters can do the work for them! They'll just have to be careful not to become targets themselves.

- Women with the lower body of a snake and snakes for hair who have the ability to turn people into stone. (Gorgons)
- Women with the legs, tails and wings of various birds. (Harpies)
- A massive lion. (Nemean Lion)
- A large, vicious boar about the size of a horse. (Erymanthian Boar)
- Giant purple, reptilian birds with fangs (Furies)
- Small imp-like monsters that seem to enjoy causing Pain and Panic (Unknown)

Welcome to the first board sub plot! These creatures attacking are mindless and do not have the ability to speak- and you're welcome to throw your characters into threads with any of them! You can kill them if you like, as it seems they just come right back! Just keep in mind that if YOU die, that's another problem entirely.
Size, strength and ability of these creatures are entirely up to you! The only thing you cannot change is their intelligence- they must remain animal-like.
You may use these creatures however you like, in whatever threads you want. Just make sure not to toss them in a thread without someone's permission!
Of course, you may NPC these creatures yourself, or, if you'd like, you may request an admin to jump into a thread and play the creatures for you if you'd rather see what someone else might come up with! The only thing you can't do is NPC these characters for a thread you're not a part of!
If you would like us to NPC the creatures, please use the form below and PM it to the NPC account.
