This was not what he had been expecting when he left the hospital that night. He had just thought he'd head over to Granny's Diner for a bite to eat and that would be the end of it. He had never suspected that he would be ATTACKED. The worst part? He wasn't even being stalked by someone who wanted his wallet or wanted to beat him up because he had slept with their girlfriend, he was actually getting attacked by REAL monsters. Two of them, to be exact.
They flew through the air, screeching into the night. Luckily, it was very late, and no one was really around. No one but an unfortunate Whale who had thought he might be able to catch Ruby alone for some one-on-one time with her in the diner. He knew the place would be closed at so late an hour, but who wouldn't open their doors for someone as charming as he was?
Now he was really hoping that would be the case as he made a mad sprint for the diner. If they weren't in there, he was totally screwed. There was no way he could fight two strange creatures when he didn't have an ounce of magic or fighting prowess in him.
He felt one of the creatures swoop down at him from the sky, sharp talons cutting into his shoulder. Luckily, they failed to grip in, and the monster shot back into the air without its prize. Meanwhile, Whale hit the street with a grunt, one hand moving to his shoulder as he looked over his shoulder up at his attackers.
They were both very similar- winged creatures that almost looked human. They had female torsos and heads, but their lower bodies were completely bird-like. Even their arms were wings, which they flapped eagerly as they turned around in the sky to target him again. If not for the fact that they were trying to kill him, he might have thought they looked great- they weren't wearing any clothes.
However, given that they seemed to want him as a meal, he was decidedly put off by them.
"Help!" he yelped haplessly, "someone help me!"
