The Evil Queen
Regina Mills
PERSONALITY Regina is a very emotional soul. Although she had thought herself to hide her feelings long ago. She hates fiercely, like pretty much everyone will know. But not all knows that she loves just as fiercely. If first, you've gained the Queen's friendship, she will fight for you. For a long time, she was hooked on getting her revenge, that was all that mattered. Things got in her way, but she kept pushing. Because she is unbelievably stubborn. She kept killing, even though it lead nowhere. Her stubborn heart also makes it the most resilient. The one that has taken the most beatings, but who's love only grows stronger for it. But who's heart also hates in the same way. Which is why she was such a dangerous villain, but also such a great hero. But she can also be a real geek. Although she will never admit it, to people like Belle, she too loves books and loves reading about spells and enchantments. And she has many, many books, in her vault, along with her many magical objects. HISTORY To say that Regina had an easy childhood, because she grew up in a beautiful castle and her parents never needed any money, would be an outright lie. Despite the love of her father and the beautiful home and more servants than she needed, there were still things that made her life harder than it should be. One of those, or rather, the main reason, was her mother, Cora. Whether it was a slap on the wrist for slouching at the dinner table, or a chokehold, if she misbehaved. All done by magic from her mother. Giving Regina as good a reason as any, to despise magic. One thing Regina did love, was horseback riding. Thankfully, that was one of the things her mother insisted that she learned. She considered it ‘suiting’ for a young lady. Especially the young lady, she had so high hopes for. There was a reason she was called Regina. Her mother wanted her to be queen. When she went riding, she also spent time with the stable boy – Daniel. Under her mother’s watchful eye, it was hard to make friends with anyone who wasn’t noble. But in the stable and when she was riding, she felt free. Daniel was part of that freedom, and so she fell in love with him. But, of course, her mother had other plans. Plans for a queen. With a bit of magic, she made sure that the king’s daughter had a mishap on a horse, while Regina was close by, so that she would save the girl’s life. That lead to the king, proposing to Regina, an offer which her mother accepted, despite the horrified look on her daughter’s face. The king’s daughter, Snow, discovered Regina and Daniel together, not long after. Regina made her promise not to tell, but her mother was more convincing. That lead to Cora ripping the heart of Regina’s stable boy, from his chest, on the night that they had been planning to run away with him. Whatever hope Regina had had of living a different life, vanished, as the dust of Daniel’s heart slipped from her mother’s fingers. She truly was a prisoner in her own home. Regina tried to escape, tried to reason with her mother, but she would have none of it. Regina was to marry the king and that was that. End of discussion. She was desperate, and so she turned to the last resort – magic. On her wedding day, she sent her mother, though a mirror, to another world, where she wouldn’t be able to control her again. But she still married the king. It was not a happy marriage, neither in the start or in the end. The king was kind, in public, when he noticed her, which wasn’t often. The only one who he really loved, was his precious daughter, Snow. It was her he danced with at balls, her he praised in his speeches. If there hadn’t been a wedding, Regina was sure no one would know that he was married. Her new home felt strange to her, despite having her father there. In private, it was worse. He was controlling, almost worse than her mother. At least with her mother, Regina knew that it was what she thought was best. With Leopold, it was just what he wanted, Regina had nothing to say in the matter. And if she did.. well, let’s just say that she didn’t do that often. Desperate time call for desperate matters. So when the opportunity to plant the idea of assassinating the king offered itself, Regina jumped at it. It was almost too easy. Afterward she was free and powerful. All the time, since her wedding, Regina had practiced her magic with the help of Rumplestiltskin. She had been against it at first, but as things got darker, her magic got stronger and she loved it. Loved the power of it, it gave her strength and courage to do what was needed, including getting rid of Leopold. After she was free she only grew more powerful as she became the queen. The loss of Daniel was still quite clear in her heart and she became obsessed with revenge, more exactly – killing Snow. The girl had to pay for telling the secret, that killed her loved one. She tried, for years, to have the girl killed. But the people loved her too much, they protected her and they outsmarted Regina’s knights time after time. Meanwhile Regina didn’t care what she had to do to kill the girl. Even if it included killing innocent people, starving them or torturing them. She thought she had done it, when she managed to cast a sleeping curse on Snow, while having her prince captured. But when that failed too and the couple married, it suddenly wasn’t enough to just kill her. No, Snow had gotten the happy ending that Regina had been robbed of. Instead of killing her, she would repay the favor – steal her happy ending. Rumple came in handy once again, with his dark curse. At that point, the curse was in the hands of Maleficent, whom Regina had to steal it from. It took a few tries, before she got the curse right. But when she did, it included her father’s heart. The one person who had always been on her side and she had to kill him, to achieve it. It broker her heart, but at that point she really didn’t let anything stop her. All that mattered was revenge. In Storybrooke she thought that she would get that. Regina had wiped the mind of everyone, replacing their memories with new ones, making sure that no one was happy. Their misery, made her happy, for a while. Until a boy and his father came into town, making Regina realize that there was something missing. She needed a child. At that point, she was so used to just taking what she wanted, that she tried to do the same to the boy, but it failed. Regina wasn’t happy after that. Yet again there was something in the way of her happy ending, a child. Rumple, or as here was called in Storybrooke, Mr Gold. Helped her acquire a child, a tiny baby that she named after her father – Henry. Motherhood was a challenge at first, but she got the hang of it eventually. Although she was incredibly strict with her son, much like her own mother had been. But she never hit him, she would scold him and correct him, often, but she never hit him. And as he got older, she kept him on a shorter and shorter leash, especially when he started asking questions about his birth mother. Regina was terrified of losing him, of not being good enough. And in the end he did run away and found his mother. Unfortunately he also brought her back to Storybrooke, which was the beginning of the end. Snow had given Henry the key to breaking the curse – his story book. With that he eventually pieced everything back together. He learned that she was the evil queen and suddenly forgot everything she had ever done for him. Henry was such a strong believer in doing the right thing, in being a hero. Regina loved him more than anything, and she fought so hard to make his mother leave town, so they could go back to what they had had before. But when Henry was suddenly dying, from a sleeping curse that was meant for his mother, everything changed. It was here that she was confronted by Emma who now knew the truth. Regina admitted to being the evil queen, she realized that all that mattered, was that Henry was alive and well. And she was terrified, that he might die. Working together with her rival, they tried to acquire a potion to wake Henry from his sleep. But Gold tricks them and then they are suddenly called back to the hospital. Henry had passed away. Regina watched from outside Henry’s hospital room, as Emma approached her dead son. She couldn’t imagine that anyone could have been more heartbroken than she was at that moment. Emma kissed Henry goodbye, but it turned out to be the true love’s kiss, that he needed to wake up. This broke the curse and meant that everyone suddenly knew who she was. Regina tried a last time to convince Henry that she really did love him, before she fled back to her home, awaiting the angry crowds that would surely kill her. But instead the town was engulfed in a cloud of purple smoke, bringing back magic. Then she wasn’t so doomed after all, but she had still lost her son. While still faced with an angry mob, Regina now has the possibility to defend herself, although it takes a bit of practice to learn how to use her magic in this new world. It is thanks to Emma, that Regina isn’t torn apart by the angry mob. After that she tries her best to change, so that she can win Henry back. She steps down as mayor when asked, she begins seeing Archie for therapy, and she lets Henry go to live with the Charmings, with a final plea to Henry, telling him that she wants to redeem herself and that she doesn’t know how to love very well. After having tried to force Henry to stay in her house and tempting him with magic, she realizes that she cannot make him love her. So she lets him go. She spends her time, trying to redeem herself, like she told Henry she wanted. When a wrath has marked Regina, she is sure that she is about to die. But to her surprise, the heroes come to her rescue. They try to send the wrath through a portal, but it ends up taking both Snow and Emma with it, trapping them in the Enchanted forest. While the heroes tried to find a way to bring back Emma and Snow, Regina was faced by another challenge, when Dr Whale broke into her vault and stole the body of her beloved Daniel. Dr Whaled succeeded in reviving the man, but only to a zombie-like state. Daniel was in constant pain and tried to kill Henry, before he could be stopped. Charming wanted to kill him right away but Regina managed to convince him to let her try to reason with him. At first, Daniel tried to kill Regina too, curling his hand around her throat, until she whispered “I love you”, and the real Daniel surfaced. They had a moment of loving reunion before Daniel is struck by the pain and begs Regina to end it. Regina was firstly overcome with joy, to see him alive, but then heartbroken as she had to end his life and lose him all over again. To get the two women back a portal had to be created. But before they got that far, Rumple convinced Regina that it would be just as likely that it was Cora that came through and that it would be best to kill whoever came through. Regina saw a chance to kill off Emma and Snow all at once, leaving her as Henry’s only mother once again and in a way that can be seen as an accident. But when Henry begged her to have faith, that it would be Emma and Snow coming through the portal, Regina removed the trap, thereby saving Emma and Snow. But despite this heroic deed, she was still excluded in the celebration. Leaving her to feel like nothing she did was good enough. When there later was a part to celebrate properly, Regina was invited, but still felt excluded, as she sat on her own, while the party went on around her. Shortly after Regina was accused of the murder of Archie, because she was seen entering his office. But it was in fact her mother. Being accused, meant that she was cut off even further from her son and whatever faith the people of the town had begun having in her, vanished. She was left watching Henry from the sidelines, feeling more heartbroken than ever. It turns out that it was Cora, who had killed the doctor and made it looked like it was Regina, to force her to reunite with her mother, seemingly the only person who cared for her. Cora apologized for everything she had done to Regina and admitted to the murder of Archie. Regina admitted to her mother, that she really didn’t care what the town thought of her, and that she just wanted Henry back. Cora offered to help make that happen and Regina accepted it. Redeeming herself and being good was taking too long and getting her no where. They sat out on a quest to find Rumple’s dagger, Cora said that she would get Rumple to kill anyone Regina wanted. Making Regina look innocent, while she would finally get Henry back. They succeeded in getting the dagger, but not without letting the town see that Regina was not on a redeeming road anymore. When Henry left town with Emma and Mr Gold, Regina was first upset that he didn’t ask her for permission. Then she feared that it would bring them further apart. And when they return home and Henry has found his birth father, she really did feel like she’s one step further away from him. Because now he had his whole family, why would he need her? Snow convinced Regina that she would never get her mother’s love, as long as Cora didn’t have her heart in her chest. After Snow had broken into Regina’s vault and found Cora’s heart. Being desperate for her mother’s approval and love, she took the heart and put it back into her mother’s chest. Little did she know, that Snow had cursed the heart, which meant that Cora died, when Regina placed the heart in her chest. But before she did, there was a moment of love between the mother and daughter, where Cora could finally feel the love she had for her daughter, and where Regina could see as well as feel it, coming from her. She died with the words “This would have been enough” leaving Regina heartbroken and angry once more. Once more Snow had stolen a thing that made her happy, it was not a good place to stand. The little boy that Regina had tried to force to stay with her, back when Storybrooke was still new, came back, looking for his father. Regina tried to tell him that his father left shortly after he did, even though she actually killed him. And of course Greg doesn’t believe her. Later Regina was tricked by Hook and put on a bracelet that prevented her from using her magic, enabling Greg and his accomplice Tamara, to kidnap Regina. The two of them were on a quest to destroy magic. They interrogated Regina and tortured her by strapping her to a table and running electricity through her. Greg wanted to know where his father was, but Regina did not answer. Instead she just took the pain, like she had learned to do in her childhood. Eventually she was saved by Snow and Charming. When she woke up in their apartment, after having been healed by mother superior, she told Snow and Charming about what Greg and Tamara had planned. That they had placed a trigger under the town, meant to destroy Storybrooke, if it was activated. Which of course it was, not too long after. Regina and Emma head down into the tunnels to find the trigger and try to delay it, until Charming and Hook can steal back the magic beans and get everyone back to the Enchanted forest. This was Regina’s plan, well knowing that it would kill her, just to delay the device. But when the prince and hook fail, Snow, Charming, Emma, and Henry go down to join Regina, thinking that they will die. But together, Regina and Emma managed to stop the destruction of the town. But when they got back up, Henry was missing. They soon found out, that he had been kidnapped by Greg and Tamara. Using one of the magic beans, they were headed for Neverland. Assembling a team of people, they boarded the Jolly Roger and followed the kidnappers by using a magic bean. The quest to save Henry was a long and difficult one, Pan continued to get in their way as the group tried to just get Henry and get back home. But in the end they did succeed, and Regina had earned a bit more trust from her travel companions. Arriving home, didn’t mean defeating Pan, that took a bit more work. Rumple sacrificed himself, to kill the villain, but not before Pan managed to cast yet another curse on the town. To fight it, Regina had to counteract it. But she could only do so much. She had to send Henry and Emma away from the town, wiping their memories and giving them new ones. So that they didn’t remember anything that had happened there. Meaning Regina had to say goodbye to her son, losing him all over again, after having just won back his trust. The rest of the town were sent back to the Enchanted forest. Here Regina learned, that she had a sister, Cora’s first born. Zelena, had taken Regina’s castle by force and continued to be a pain in the backside, for a year, while Regina mourned the loss of her son. She did however also meet a certain thief, although she at that time, didn’t know who he was, and rather disliked him, for being a thief. Although she couldn’t deny that there was something special about him, something separating him from all the other thieves. And it didn’t have anything to do with his scruffy and handsome looks, or his charm, or how he just didn’t back off. Not even when she threatened to cut his head off for it. They discovered that the way to defeat the wicked witch, was light magic, so they needed Emma. Snow and Charming decided to cast another curse. But before they could, the witch added something to the mix. Making everyone forget what had happened in the past year. So it was quite the mystery, trying to figure out what had gone on, in the past year, when they got back to Storybrooke. Not to mention that Henry was there, but didn’t know who Regina was. She had never tried torture that horrible. Now she had to find out all over again, that Zelena was her sister. But, she also got to meet the thief all over ago. And this time, she got to know who he was and why she hadn’t just killed him in the Enchanted Forest. He was her soulmate. At first it frightened her, because Regina had not known love she hadn’t lost. And she was a villain, villains didn’t get happy endings. There was no way that it could end well. But she couldn’t make herself stay away. He didn’t look at her like everyone else did, he didn’t see her as the evil queen. But rather as a person who had made mistakes and who was trying to make up for them. While they fought the wicked witch, Regina found herself falling for the thief, and eventually gave up on fearing the future, and gave in to the attraction. In the end, the heroes (now including Regina) broke the curse that made them all forget. By having Regina give Henry a kiss of true love, after he had gotten back his own memories. Regina destroyed her sister (or so it seemed at the time), with her newly found light magic. Making herself a true hero in the process. But the happy ending that might have been, was destroyed, when Emma and Hook fell through a timeportal and brought back Robin’s wife, who was supposed to be dead. After seeing him reunited with his wife, Regina fled the diner and refused to see anyone. Even with her isolation she still managed to talk to Robin, which was equally heartbreaking and encouraging. He claimed his feelings for her were real, but at the same time, he had still made a vow to his wife, which he had to honor. Then she went right out and saved his wife, when they were attacked by a snow monster. After that she just hid in her home and wouldn’t even see Henry. Until he showed up at her door and demanded that she see him. That helped a lot. Although Regina still felt heartbroken, at least she still had Henry. When Marian had gotten herself cursed, Regina had a hard time seeing it as a bad thing. She was still a barrier between herself and Robin, but at least it meant Regina didn’t have to see him and his wife, being a happy little family. On the other hand, Regina was then tasked with saving his wife (again). And it turned out to be a lot harder than she thought it would be. Nothing that she tried worked, not even true love’s kiss. Robin then confessed to being in love with her, which did make her happy for a moment or two. But there was still his wife. Regina had to rip her heart from her chest, to prevent her from dying, while she tried to find a way to save her. While Regina tried to save her, she continued to grow closer to her thief, despite her attempts not to do so. The attraction and the knowledge that it was fate, made it impossible to turn him away, when he came to her vault and kissed her with immense force. So when the ice queen was defeated and the curse on Marian was lifted, it was very bitter-sweet as Regina placed her heart back into her chest. She was sure that it would mean that Robin would go back to his wife. But then Marian surprised her, by saying that she would back off. But just as Robin had told Regina that he chose her, making her beyond happy, Marian collapsed, apparently still afflicted by the ice queen’s curse. To save her, she had to be sent across the town line, and Robin and Roland had to go with her. So once again, Regina had her heart broken, as Robin crossed that town line, most likely never returning again. Some time before that, Regina had started a secret mission with Henry, to try and find the author of his storybook, so they could ask him to write her a happy ending. It was not the easiest of tasks, since he hadn’t left behind a lot of clues, as to who he was. When Rumple, Maleficent, Cruella, and Ursula came to town, it became more of a chase than a quest to find the Author. Regina had to go undercover to try and win their trust, although she never really did. But she did win a few brownie points, with the heroes, for trying. In the end they did find the Author, the one that the Apprentice captured in the book. Gold used him to write his own happy ending. But before he did, Regina and Emma went to New York and found Robin again. Zelena had pretended to be Marian, ever since Emma and Hook brought her back from the past. And she had fooled everyone, including Robin. But Regina blew her cover before they brought all three of them, back to Storybrooke. It was a mess, Robin and Zelena. It did upset Regina, but she couldn’t find it in herself to blame Robin, he had thought that he was stuck in New York and that Zelena had been his wife. That didn’t mean that she had to like it. But she could blame Zelena, for everything. And she did. Rumple’s happy ending, took them all from Storybrooke to an alternate reality, where no heroes got a happy ending, but the villains did. Surprisingly enough, Regina here counted as a hero. She lived as an outlaw, who met Robin, when he saved her from having ripped her heart out by an evil Snow. But once again Zelena stood in the way of her happy ending. To get them all out of the book, they were in. They had to change the story. Regina had to sacrifice herself, getting herself killed by Rumple, making him a villain, not a hero. And thereby getting everyone out. The apprentice drove the darkness out of Rumple’s heart, to save him. But that darkness sought out another host, firstly going after Regina. However, before the darkness could take root, Emma cut in and took her place. Then she was sucked up by the force. The others followed her, not too long after, to Camelot. Here Regina had to pretend to be the savior, while they tried to find a way to save Emma from being The Dark One. One thing that made the experience stand out to Regina, was the ball, that was held at their arrival. Regina had never been to a ball, that she enjoyed. But at this one, she was met with applause and the awaiting arms of her Robin, who knew the moves of the dances, much better than she did herself. Much to her surprise. She could have danced all night, if it hadn’t been for the man who interrupted their dance and threatened her. Robin came to her rescue, but got himself stabbed in the process. Regina’s own magic couldn’t save him, since the magic of blade, was meant for her. But Emma could and she did save him. When they got back to Storybrooke, they were all surprised that they, once again, didn’t remember a thing that had happened in Camelot. Eventually they did remember and they did free Emma from the dagger. But at the price of Killian’s life. Which was when they traveled to the underworld. RP SAMPLE Horses hooves against green grass, thundering over hill after hill. There was no sound that sounded more like freedom, not to Regina. On the back of her horse, she could go wherever she liked, do whatever she did. Within her mother's boundaries of course. But it was still the most free she could be, within this kingdom. It felt as if the more she pushed the steed, the more free she would be. It was all a lie and she knew it. But it beat sitting still and embroidering pillows and handkerchiefs, any day. Regina knew the areas she could ride in, without being caught up in her mother's boundary fence. But if she pretended she didn't, if felt a lot more like freedom. She knew that she would be leaving this afternoon, with both her parents, to go to the neighboring kingdom, where the prince was looking for a wife. Of course her mother would jump at the chance for Regina to be queen of anything. But it meant, that she had to be on her best behavior for the next week or so, if she wanted to her mother's magic punishments. To do that, she needed one final ride. Just one last moment of freedom, then she could face it. One last ride and then she could be the perfect girl, her mother wanted her to be. |
