Mad Hatter
Jefferson Holst
PERSONALITY Jefferson is probably considered as one of the most interesting souls out of all citizens in Storybrooke. Due to his comprehensive past (with ups and downs), he has been through a lot (ex. losing his wife and being separaded with his daughter), which has only made him stronger. At least that's what he says. Jefferson, aka. Mad Hatter was (and still is, despite to the curse-thing, which made him focus on getting his daughter Grace back.) a free-spirited, fun-loving young man, full of sass, before Regina put the curse on Echanted Forest. While the Hatter is loud, eccentric, and insane like the rest of Wonderland's residents, he's also rather charming, and can be mild-mannered from time to time, particularly when dealing with visitors such as Alice and other friends he has (Henry, Emma, Belle, etc. etc.). Despite to his fun-loving personality, he also has a darker side. Jefferson is very good at lying and acting. It's hard to tell whether is he telling the truth or not. He also appears to be an abusive kidnapper: (truth to be told - he's not complitely sane. After all, it's the Mad Hatter we're talking about) he kidnapped Snow White and threathened her and Emma Swan with a gun. He watched his daughter Grace through the telescope. Which proves that there's something a little bit wrong with his mind. Towards his loved ones (ex. his deceased wife and daughter), Jefferson is the most loving, over-protective human-being on earth. He might appear a little too protective, but I'll consider it as a good trait. He is ready to sacrifise his life for the good of his family and closest friends. He never lets them down, and always have their back. But when the opposite happens (his loved ones let him down), he might be a little disappointed, but he won't stop caring about them. Getting rid of him is not that easy. After losing his daughter, Jefferson has grew more insane than he already was. He might start laughing at random things at random place. People often misunderstand him. Depsite to that, he is still that same, sassy, fun-loving hatter. HISTORY Jefferson used to own magical hat that he used to travel between different worlds. In the past, he used his hat to retrieve objects for the Evil Queen. However, he gave his job up as his daughter Grace lost her mother because of it. He lived with Grace in the forest, and they collect and sold mushrooms to survive, although that was a crappy thing to do, and they barely had any money. When the Queen asked for another favor, he initially refused, but eventually agrees with the condition that his daughter "will want for nothing" afterward. He knew it would be his last little adventure to Wonderland. He didn't even want to go, but he had to, because of his daughter. After losing his wife, Grace became the most importnant person in his life. He took the Queen to Wonderland, and she rescued her father Henry. However, his hat will only take two back to the Queen's realm because only two left that realm. The Queen told him that if he truly cared for Grace, he would have never left her. Jefferson was left behind and captured by the knights of the Queen of Hearts - Evil Queen's mother. He was beheaded when he didn't not tell her how he came to Wonderland, but he survived. He was then ordered to make another magical hat to return home. His head was reattached, leaving a scar around his neck. Although he made thousands of hats, none were able to take him home, leading him into insanity. In Storybrooke, he was one of the few to remember life in the Enchanted Forest which was his part of the curse. He lived (and still does( near the forest in a large house, from which he used telescopes to spy on Sheriff Emma Swan's office and on his daughter Grace, who was now named Paige by her new adoptive parents. He captured Mary Margaret Blanchard after she escaped from her cell though he says he did this to save her from the curse, as she was intending to leave Storybrooke. He later abducted Emma when she went looking for Mary Margaret. He ordered Emma to make a magical hat that will take him home: a task only she can do as she has brought magic to Storybrooke. He also told Emma that the curse was real and that his curse was to watch Grace be happy with a different father and know that he didn't belong to the world she is living in. She made a hat, but she was unable to make it take him home. She and Mary Margaret eventually escaped by pushing him out a window. He disappeared immediately after, leaving nothing but the hat Emma made. Jefferson returned when Regina left a White Rabbit playing card on his daughter's bike. She told Jefferson she can return his daughter to him with her memories returned. However, Jefferson felt that would be cursing his daughter to remember both of her lives and instead demands he be allowed to forget and have a new life with his daughter. Regina agreed provided Jefferson help her get rid of Emma. With the last bit of Regina's magic, they got his hat working again and he retrieved the cursed apple that put Snow White into a deathlike sleep. When he called on Regina to uphold her end, she promised that she will after Emma is gone. After Emma's son Henry accidentally ate the poisoned apple, Regina refused to help Jefferson, blaming him. Furious, Jefferson freed Belle from her cell and instructed her to tell Mr. Gold that Regina held her captive, knowing that Mr. Gold will want to take revenge. Later after taking advice from Henry, Jefferson found and reunited with Grace and the two go off to his home. After about a year, Grace went missing, she never came back from school. Jefferson fell into depression, and grew even more insane than he normally was. Two years has passed, and he's slowly recovering from what happened. RP SAMPLE Following the small dirt road from his home, Jefferson was trying to take precautions not to forget his way back, knowing that at some point he’d find himself distracted with something along the way, even if he tried to convince himself otherwise. Muttering to himself every so often, having been carrying a bag over his shoulder that contained old tea cups and saucers that Thackery had broken and busted to useless pieces, a few things start to catch his eye and he mostly ignores them, keeping his blue-ish eyes down to the dirt road in front of him, watching his shoes come into sight, one after another as he walked. Lifting a hand to gently scratch the side of his face, he halted. Something caught his attention. Not a sight, but a sound. Holding the bag tighter over his shoulder he pursed his lips, his eyebrows knitting together slowly as his eyes shifted around the wooded area. He had heard something, and that something sounded like it was on two legs, so what could it have been? Most things that run through here only pitter and patter, with four legs. Having not heard the sound for a short minute, he was about to begin walking again, until he heard another sound. A snap. Turning his head to where the sound was coming from, he narrowed his eyes to the small patch of trees. "My old friend!" loud, cheerful words escaped from hatter's mouth, as he drew a wide grin to his face. It had to be the March Rabbit. Even if no one was there, and he was talking to himself, he wouldn't mind. His tough life had made him insane, and he wasn't able to control himself anymore. But there was nothing he could do about it. "What are you doing here, huh?" a low laughter sounded from his mouth, as he took off his hat, raising it above his head. If someone saw him, they would've probably thought he was insane. A psycho. Which he actually was. Tabbing his index finger against the edge of the hat, he exposed his teeth in a broad grin. "I thought I'd never see you again." he said, his tone more quieter, before a short, blonde-haired man stepped out of the bushes, greeting Jefferson with a broad smile. |
