Robin had decided to spend a day with his son. Of course, he always loved spending time with his boy, but this time it felt like poor Roland really needed his father there with him, at least for a little while. Recently, he had needed to deal with the fact that his mother hadn't actually been alive, even though he had thought he was spending time with her for a couple of months. As it turned out, his mother had actually been an evil witch named Zelena, who had been impersonating Marian in an attempt to ruin her sister's life. That had been difficult for Robin to comprehend. But Roland?
It had crushed him all over again. The poor boy, having to be told that his mother was still gone and they had both been tricked. It hardly seemed fair.
So of course he wanted to spoil the boy. He had already taken him to the local toy shop to get him a new stuffed animal, though he still liked his monkey best, and now they were both on their way to the ice cream shop for whatever flavored and sized treat the boy felt he could handle. Robin walked with Roland next to him, holding his hand to make sure he didn't go running off anywhere.
The town was small and quaint, much different from the busy city of New York that they had both been getting used to, but that didn't mean running around in the streets was a good idea.
"Well Roland, what flavor are you going to get?" He asked his son as they walked along the pavement together.
"All of them!" Replied the young boy eagerly, jumping as he walked.
"My, you are an ambitious boy," Robin laughed, though his attention was drawn away from his son when he spotted a somewhat lost-looking woman he hadn't quite seen before. Sure, he'd been away for a bit, but he was pretty sure no one knew had come to town in that time. Still, he didn't recognize her, which made him wonder if she was one of the beings from the Underworld. One of the dead that had been brought back to life when Rumplestiltskin saved them from that world.
"Excuse me, ma'am," he offered lightly as he approached the pretty woman, "may I help you?"
