❝ I may not have spent so long ❞
The life in this foster home wasn’t the kind of home he’d wanted when he took that magic bean to bring him to this world. Him and his papa were meant to be together in this world as a family the way they used to be, but, that dagger had messed everything up yet again when his papa kept his grip on that not him. Now he was alone in this world, and, just an orphan who no-one else wanted, looking for a place to belong.
Neal was in his second foster home in two months, and, this one wasn’t much better then the other one so far. The last one he’d been kicked out of not long after he’d gotten there, the shortest amount of time he’d spent in any of them so far. This one he was going to try not to do anything wrong, to make sure they had no real reason to kick him out. Maybe, the only way would be if they got sick of him or put up with him.
This day was a lot like most others, Neal was finished at school, and, now his foster brothers were chasing him, either to give him a hard time or just to bash him again like they always did since he got here. Neal knew that, while he may be faster then them, he couldn’t avoid them since they lived under the same roof. Well for as long as he was in this home.
Soon, he saw the door of the house up ahead, and, it wouldn’t take long for him to reach it and he’d be able to hide in his room for a while. Glancing back behind him, Neal didn’t see his foster brothers close enough to him to be caught yet. Taking off his backpack, Neal chucked it over before climbing up the fence and jumping over it. Neal didn’t look back as he heard the call of his foster brothers, and, quickly made his way inside the house and into his room.
Neal chucked his backpack on the ground, before quickly pushing the door closed as he heard his brothers reaching the top of the stairs. ‘You can’t stay in there forever.’ Neal smiled softly before leaning against the door. “I’d like to see you try and stop me.” Neal said, before locking the door. His foster brothers he could handle, but, the abuse from the foster parents was another story.
This room was the one place he could escape it for a while. Neal went to back away from the door, just in case his brothers found their way inside. He kept his eye on the door, as he held out his hands to feel the wall behind him. Strangely he couldn’t feel it, but, he found himself tripping over something that he didn’t remember being in his room.
Looking up, Neal raised his eyebrows in surprise as he saw that he was in a grass field. How the heck he got here he didn’t know, but, looking behind him he saw a mirror. That must’ve been how he’d gotten in here. Neal made his way closer to the glass holding out his hand for it, and, feeling the glass was solid. “What the heck?” Neal asked.
Hearing a noise behind him Neal turned around before noticing a small group of people all gathered around some kind of stage. Keeping his hands in his pockets, Neal made his way towards them all. Maybe one of them could tell him where he was, or how he could get back to where he was supposed to be before he got in trouble. “Excuse me. Would you be able to tell me where I am? And how I can get out of here?” Neal asked, looking at one of them waiting for them to speak.
