Belle French {Lacey}
Belle French
PERSONALITY Belle has developed from being a quiet young girl who dreamed of adventure to a woman who wouldn't mind the adventure stopping for a while. She is bright and logical with a mind that is keen to devour information and seek out answers to difficult questions. She has a thirst for information, which has made her a valuable asset to the heroes as they face there magical foes. She loves working in the pawn shop, each object is like a storybook with a tale that she must discover and understand. She is a people person, she loves to get to know those around her and will do her best to help them. Belles fatal flaw is her ability to trust someone unquestionably. She is beginning to learn that her selfless love is perhaps a bit naive. It has gotten her into trouble time and time again and she has had her heart broken on countless occasions, because of her willingness to forgive. While she is stronger for it, she has also learn't to say no to those willing to take advantage of her kind nature. She is extremely hard working and gentle natured. Focusing on a task or project is probably one of her favourite things and a great hobby of hers. She sometimes has the misfortune of getting in over her head with things. She has a need to solve problems and can sometimes dive into situations foolishly. Strengths: Good-natured, Intelligent, Organized, Studious, Weaknesses: Dependent, Naive, Obsessive, Wishful, HISTORY STORY BOOK CHARACTER: I was a lucky child, born to loving parents in a humble castle overlooking the town of Avonlea. Like my mother I quickly fell in love with books. From a young age I would carry my favourite books everywhere, much to the annoyance of my father. They were my closest friends and took me on wonderful adventures far beyond the castle walls. I would refuse to sleep if I could not cling to my favourite story and my parents soon learnt it was easier to let me take a book to bed than protest. As I grew my parents became worried, I had no friends of my own, preferring to keep to myself. It was just a stage, my mother would say, but my father feared I would become sickly spending too much time inside. He arranged for me to play with one of the local children, his name was Samuel and he lived across town in what I thought was a pretty storybook house, honeysuckle grew all over it and I thought it was an idyllic change to the stark castle walls. We became good friends and would often play make believe in the castle gardens, we would travel on far distant adventures inspired from the storybooks I had read. My peaceful years were not to last long, as I came into my teenage years, the ogre wars began. I heard frightful stories from the servants of the terrible deeds the ogres committed. We were at war and we were losing. I would curl up in bed at night and listen for the distant sounds of ogres treading closer to our castle. My father commanded armies to go and clear the surrounding areas of ogres, but our army was small and the ogres were great. They didn't stand a chance. My world changed one afternoon. It had seemed like a perfectly normal afternoon, that is until my father came running in with his men. We have to evacuate. The ogres where heading towards the castle and there was no stopping them. I clung to my mother in fear, we both rushed to the library desperate to save our beloved books from being destroyed forever. Each and every book was priceless, irreplaceable knowledge that had to be saved. I fought back the tears and the fear that dared to make me stop in my tracks and await my fate. The heavy footing of the ogres echoed tremendously around the library. I searched desperately for the precious book that had opened my eyes to a world of reading. The first book my mother had ever read to me. Belle...my mothers voice shone through the noise like a beacon, I'm right here mother...I called back as I raced to my mothers side. Our fleeting words were cut short as a huge crash of crumbling rock echoed around the castle. They are here! I exclaimed with fear. Our cause was lost, we would surely be killed. My mother grabbed my hands and in the only way a mother could, she gave me courage. We will hide till they pass, she told me firmly as she grabbed my hand and dragged me under one of our sturdy oak tables. We lay there clinging to each other trembling with fear as the sound of the ogres grew louder and louder. I has always wished for an adventure, but now I wasn't too sure. There was a loud thud on the door and with a force more powerful than anything I'd seen, the ogre kicked the door down in a shower of wood and metal. I could only stare paralysed with fear as the feet approached. My mother pulled me to her, placing her finger to her lips in a sign of reassurance, we just had to be silent. I nodded to her and closed my eyes willing the beast to leave us be. We watched as the ogre seemed to walk away and a part of me was sure it was going to pass us by. Its going to be alright...they were the last words I heard before the table was wrenched from above us and with a thunderous roar of teeth and spit I looked up into the face of death. I awoke with a start, wrapped safely in clean bed sheets as if nothing terrible had happened at all. I dressed quickly, in a haze of confusion. Why was no one with me? Where was mother...what had happened? I could not remember anything and yet I was filled with dread that something truly awful had happened. Everything was quiet, but the main hall was filled with people, whispering to each other. Mother? My father came to my side, confused with my appearance, remember what father? I asked as he drew me close. It was then I saw it. The casket that could only be for my mother. I clung to my father desperately trying to understand why she could have been taken from me. My days after were spent in mourning as I desperately tried to work out how I could get my memories back. There had to be a way. There just had to be! It was awful living and knowing there was something you should know but couldn't. It was through my book learning I discovered about the rock trolls. They had magic that could restore memory. Against my fathers wishes I travel to a distant land called Arendelle. It was a long journey, but I was content knowing I would have my questions answered. I was lucky in meeting another young woman like myself called Anna, she knew about the rock trolls and offered to take me there. I was delighted in my luck! The rock trolls were everything I could have wished for. The troll gave me a rock, which he told me would return my memories once I brewed it in tea at the place I had lost them. It was on our return things took a turn for the worst. A great snow storm beat down on us, Anna claimed it was Ingrid trying to stop her return. The snow froze me to the core, it was frightfully difficult to journey in the weather. A great gust of wind blew in knocking me from my feet, my precious stone slipped from my fingers. No! I cried desperate to reach the stone that would finally give me the answers I sought. I could hear the cries of Anna, as she clung for her life on the edge of the cliff. One moment...please...I begged, I couldn't let the stone go. I couldn't. The stone shattered. All was lost. Anna fell from the cliff face, I couldn't save her. Her aunt took her away and I knew Anna's fate was not going to be a happy one. It was my fault. I could have saved her, but I didn't I was selfish. From that moment on I promised myself I would sacrifice anything in order to save others. That is what heroes did and I wanted to be a hero...not someone that hurt others to get what they wanted. The wars raged on with ogres and there seemed to be no hope. I heard of a great wizard and implored my father to ask for his help. At this point I was already engaged to Gaston, a match my father was sure would be a great one. He came the great wizard, full of mystery and great promises. All he wanted was me and he would protect my father and the town from the terrible ogres. It was a small price to pay for such an offer. A part of me was grateful for an escape from the life I was leading. I'd make a big mistake. I cried all day and all night. I was overcome with a terrible grief and nothing could comfort me. Locked away in a dark cellar with no worldly comforts at all I was a prisoner. I was to clean for him. It was a relieve to be doing something. He would talk to me with great humour one moment, then the next terrify me with his coldness. I couldn't even make him a decent cup of tea. I broke his cup, leaving a great chip on the rim. Its only a cup he said dismissively as I choked back my apologies. Perhaps he wasn't so bad after all. I continued that night crying, waiting for pain to stop. That's when he came, he couldn't stand my crying. For a moment I thought he cared for my pain when he gave me a pillow, then the next moment he shattered those thoughts. I thud from the next room stopped our conversation. There was someone in the castle. I rushed out to see what was happening. A thief trying to steal a wand. I couldn't stand the torturing that Rumple was inflicting upon the man. I was certain he was only after the wand for true reasons. I couldn't bare scrubbing the blood from Rumples clothes. So I set the man free. The man stole the wand. Rumple in his fury dragged me along with him to watch as he got revenge on the thief. It was on that journey I told him how I really felt. I had seen good in him and even now as he was filled with revenge I could see the good inside of him. I pleaded with him to let the man go to forgive him. He made the right choice. Once he saw the man had the best intentions for his family he let him go. He listened to me. I couldn't help but look at Rumple in a new light. He was a good man with a good heart. I was sure of it. Time passed and learnt truly that Rumple was not a beast, but a man with a heart and a past. He cared for me. Of that I was sure. He had saved me when I was kidnapped and made sure I was safe, when he could have just as easily let me go. It gave me a choice. He said I could go and fetch some straw from the village. I was certain he was giving me a choice to stay or go. I smiled and promised I'd be back. It was on my journey I met the Queen, she was grand and powerful. She told me of true loves kiss. A magic powerful enough to break any curse. With a spring in my step I returned to him. I knew I could break the curse. The kiss was the most magical thing I'd ever experienced, It really was a kiss of true love. So powerful it began to break his curse, I whispered this to him, causing him to break the spell. He didn't trust me, thought I'd tricked him. He didn't want me there any more. It was with a broken heart I left him. I travelled around seeking some kind of existence. I couldn't go back to my father. It was at a tavern I decided to try my hand one more time at a real adventure. There was a beast that needed hunting and a group of men where keen to go after it. Armed with my books I joined them. I knew exactly where to find the creature. The men didn't want me there, I knew it from the start, they made fun of my books and pressed me to find out what they needed. I lied knowing too well they wouldn't take me along. Off they went in the wrong direction and I turned to the path that would lead me to the creature. My bravery failed me and I fled back to the town, where the men were waiting. I was lucky that a young warrior was there to help me. Mulan, she called herself. She was as brave as I wished I could be. Together we made a great team. The Yaoguai, the great beast turned out to be nothing but a cursed prince. These beasts really were not what they seemed. I needed to go back to him. To the beast I loved. It was not to be. It was on the road I met her again. The Evil Queen. She locked me up, wanting to keep me from the man I was sure I could save. STORYBROOKE CHARACTER: The curse left me locked and confused in a cell. I was a patient in a psychiatric ward. Of that I knew. But I wasn't crazy! I was sure of it. But then that is what I thought a crazy person might say. Every day seemed to be the same and just when I thought there would never be an end to this eternal misery I saw a new face at the door. The strange man let me go. He told me to find a man called Mr Gold. He would help me, he assured me. So off I went. Of course living in a world with storybook characters I should have known my life would never be simple. After Rumple brought magic back to Storybrooke things became complicated and although I loved Rumple and was pleased to have finally found him I couldn't help but fear that there was more to our story than meets the eye. He promised not to use magic. I knew things were not right, he was keeping secrets from me, purposely not letting me into his life. I was lucky when I found my friend Ruby, she was a kind ear and someone who would listen to my silly worries. Little did I know then how I would be betrayed by those I loved. My father tried to force me to lose my memories in order to forget my love for Rumple. It was a betrayal I could not forgive and although I loved my father dearly I could not look upon his face...nor could I look at Rumple who continued to use magic even when I had begged him not to. I found my place in Storybrooke, the library, where I had always felt most at home. Having a purpose in life helped distract me from my own worries. Time healed the wounds Rumple had ripped within me and I found myself wanting to get to know him again. I offered him a date in the diner. I'd heard the burgers there were fabulous and I thought it a good excuse to see Rumple. Something plagued Rumples mind and while I kept busy with the usual problems that seemed to so often occur in Storybrooke, he was working on a magic of his own. The day he told me he had worked out how to leave Storybrooke to find his son, I knew there was hope for him yet, his love for his son was helping to keep him on the right path and I asked to go with him. There was not enough magic for myself to go to so I promised to look after the shop. Thats when the pirate came...I recognised him and it was that recognition that gave me the chance to escape from his clutches. If there was something I would learn in Storybrooke it was the fact I would become a target for those people who had a grudge against Rumple. I was shot. I don't remember much of what happened, but while saying goodbye to Rumple at the boarder I was shot. I fell across the line and my memories faded away. Fear...I didn't know who I was or what kind of strange magic I had seen Mr Gold do, but all I knew was I was lost and afraid. Then suddenly from nowhere I knew who I was. I was Lacey. I love partying, drinking and having a good time. I didn't care what other people thought of me and I hated reading. Mr Gold continued to pursue me, even after I told him I was not interested. Life was good. I was having a blast! I agreed to have dinner with him, but I bored easily and snuck out, it was there on the streets of Storybrooke I saw his true self. His dark side and it attracted me. Once more my memories were to be restored...and although it seemed most likely the world did not end. Instead the town was saved once more. Off the Storybrooke Heroes went to Neverland and I was left behind. I used my skills wisely, helping where I could and keeping the shop running. I might not be as brave or strong as the other heroes of Storybrooke, but I was able to help on many occasions. I managed to get pandoras box back to Ariel to help Rumple and the heroes in Neverland. He died...he died to save us. It was that sacrifice that made me realise I was right to think that there was good in him. I took over running the Pawnshop, I enjoyed researching the items, working out what was special about them and wondering how and why he had come across the items. People began to come to me. When there was information to be found, it was I and my books that were called upon. I enjoyed the challenge and wanted to help as best I could. I fought many battles and lost the love of my life more than once and yet I learned a great deal about myself in the process. I learned that I could be brave and that I was strong. I was strong in the way that my education and learning was an asset, not something to be scorned. When Rumples use of magic became too much for him I watched at the petals of the magical rose slowly dwindled knowing I would not have much time left, then as suddenly as the petals fell they began to reform. He was waking up..I raced to his side. But he was gone. RP SAMPLE The room was dark. It was always dark. Sometimes she could hear sounds from the world outside and every now and again a cry from the room next to her. Why she was here she didn't know. She was half human, a mere ghost of a person living in eternal darkness, with no one to talk to and nothing to keep her mind occupied. It could drive anyone crazy. She was often plagued with terrible nightmares of giant beasts that were aflame and monsters that could spin gold. Sometimes she screamed so much the nurse would sedate her. The medicine helped. It kept away the twisted dreams that haunted her so. She lay silently on her bed. Sometimes she prayed for death because she had forgotten what life was. The only thing that made her world seem real was the itchy nightgown she'd been given to wear. The material was coarse and often left red patches on her delicate skin. The familiar sound of forced metal caused her to open her eyes. Someone was coming. She blinked as the light came into her cell and a dark figure of a man stood before her. It took a moment before she could see the man stood in the doorway and she cowered fearing what might happen next. She wasn't accustomed to visitors. She did not expect the man to offer his hand to her in the gentle manner he did, there was something behind his eyes that immediately made her trust him. He was here to help her...she was certain of it. She didn't even think or care to question why a stranger would help her. 'Who are you...why are you doing this?' She asked as she took his hand and rose to her feet, her face filled with wonder as she searched the man for answers. He was reassuring when he spoke, his hands were firmly pressed on her shoulders and it helped to ground her thoughts so she could listen clearly to what he was saying. The instructions he gave were simple, find a Mr Gold, tell him Regina had locked her up. He would keep her safe from harm. That was all she needed to know. Escaping was surprisingly easy, she took a coat left in the waiting-room by a careless visitor and threw it over her hospital gown. Hugging the coat tightly she marched quickly out of the hospital, hiding her eyes behing her wild tufts of hair. The world outside was strange to her and she jumped at all the passing veichles. It wasn't too difficult to find the man called Mr Gold. One of the first stores she passed had his name plastered above the door. Surely she would find him there? Perhaps he had some answers for her. She lingered for a moment at the shop door, before pushing it open and slipping inside. A bell jingled as the door shut behind her and she paused for a moment taking in all the items that covered the shop from floor to ceiling. 'Excuse me?' She called out, 'Is Mr Gold here?' She asked the empty shop as she hugged the coat around her. |
