Tippetarius / Ozma
Timothy Ayers
PERSONALITY Tip is earnest and kind but ridiculously blunt. He doesn’t mean anything by it but sometimes people need a reality check and he’s fine with being the one to give it. He doesn't have a lot of brain-to-mouth filter. He is rarely afraid of anything save for a few things here and there, like mean old witches. Although he’s never had friends really, he would never betray them. Friends are precious treasures. As it is, he has a sensibility and practicalness that can make him a bit of a spoilsport. Unless the sport was his idea, of course. His work ethic isn't the greatest unless the task is important or he's interested in it. He might have a bit of a super hero complex. He has the skills of a farm boy, along with a few more unsavory ones like stealing and sneaking about though he wasn't very educated before Storybrooke. However, books and learning were far more readily available after the breaking of the first curse. Tip detests bad puns – they just get on his nerves. He doesn’t exactly have the socialization skills of other people though he does his best. This means he doesn’t always understand the interactions and emotions of others. Often times, he expects the worst of a person because of the way Old Mombi treated him. He doesn’t have a lot of patience and can be kind of short tempered, snapping at people when he doesn’t really mean to. HISTORY Once, Mombi was one of the greatest Wicked Witches. When the humbug later known as the Wizard of Oz deposed the king of Oz from his thrown in the Emerald City, Mombi was the witch the Wizard turned to, to hide the King and his infant daughter Ozma. Using a forbidden transformation spell, Mombi turned Ozma into a boy who she renamed Tippertarius. Tip was basically a slave to Mombi and did all her farm work, cleaning, cooking... Everything she didn't want to do. One day, when he was bored and there was no fun to be had on his own, he created a scarecrow using wood (has he couldn't find any straw) and a pumpkin along with discarded rags for clothing to scare old Mombi on her way back from a visit with a magician. When his trick ultimately failed, Mombi decided she'd test her Powder of Life on the scarecrow and animated Jack Pumpkinhead. Tip witnessed this magic, much to his shock, and thusly learned how to use the Powder. He also learned that Mombi had decided to turn him into a statue for his cheek. So, sneaking the pepperbox with the powder and a hidden secret, Tip took Jack with him as a traveling companion and made to leave. On the way, Jack began to complain about his joints wearing out so Tip animated a sawhorse they had come across for Jack to ride, after making it much more like a horse. Then they were off to the Emerald City. As it grew dark, they slept by the road - or at least Tip did. The sawhorse and Jack had no need of sleep. In the morning, they came to a river where a ferryman refused to help them cross without coin... Still, the sawhorse could float and they crossed without much event. Before they even could dry off, old Mombi caught up to them as fast as her old, horrible legs could carry her. Realizing she couldn't really turn Tip into a statue, she had a better idea. She summoned a cyclone and they were carried to another land. Now there was no risk that Tip would find out who he was and break the curse placed upon him. Of course, Mombi was not aware at that time that Zelena had already replaced the Wizard... It was some time before the first curse was cast, but life returned to just the way it was before for Tip. In Storybrooke, an early twenties Timothy found himself in an overly restrictive home with his grandmother. He couldn't leave her despite the abuse she hurled at him constantly, or the daily death threats. She couldn't take care of herself really. It was up to him. So he worked in a clothing store daily and then went home to cook and clean and rarely sleep. When the first curse broke, and magic returned, Mombi just kept them going as she had before with threats of turning him into a statue. During the return to the Enchanted Forest, he found himself simply wandering and visiting different villages. Mombi's old heart hadn't been able to handle the switching back and forth between curses and lands. She'd been found dead on arrival so there was nothing holding Tip back. Although honestly, he wasn't home and he knew it. Oz was home - and if anything, he would have preferred Storybrooke to either of them. But then they were back in Storybrooke like some Hellish yo-yo. With no idea where Mombi had gone, now was his chance. So Tip found himself a little apartment, living on his own for the very first time... And with a pepperbox of some importance, along with many of Mombi's more magical accoutrements just to keep them away from her (not knowing his predisposition to white magic blocked by his curse). Inside contained one remaining portion of the Powder of Life and, hidden in the bottom of the box, three of Dr. Nikidik’s Celebrated Wishing Pills. They’re simple silver pills that when swallowed will grant a wish if you know how to count to seventeen by twos beforehand. They cause intense pain when swallowed by humans. He kept his nose down, worked in the shop, made clothes to be sold from his own designs. Doing so seemed to keep him out of the line of fire while the bigwigs figured things out. When the memories came back, he threw himself a quiet party - ding-dong the witch was dead. Sayonara, Mombi. Really, it's been just the same for him. He just wants to stay out of the way of all the witches and Dark Ones and death and chaos. Oh sure, he wouldn't mind being the big damn hero some time... But on his own terms, like that's how that works. RP SAMPLE Oh look. Everyone was back again. And the important people were having their problems. Again. Tip couldn't help but roll his eyes as he drew in his sketchbook. God, he didn't know how any of them could stand it. There was drama and then there was drama and they were most definitely drama. They were all so caught up in ruining everyone else's lives that he doubted they even realized when there were other people in trouble in town. Like had they ever even noticed him? Not that he was overly eager to be in the spotlight - well, no more than any other young man who occasionally craved adventure. But he'd been in a really shitty spot and Mombi had been right there, under their noses. Only she had seemed so busy keeping him pushed down that maybe she didn't care either. He'd been a half starved, depressed mess. Had they even seen him? It was egotistical to think but he couldn't help it. Tip tucked his sketchbook under the counter of the clothing shop as someone came in, bell tink-tinkling to alert him of a customer. With Mombi's death, Tip's work ethic had practically tripled. This was his money now and he could do whatever he wanted (after bills). So he was off from behind the counter to approach his customer. "Oh that top would be great on you but perhaps in red rather than yellow? It'd match your skin tone so much better." |
