Azura
Layla Grey
PERSONALITY Azura is a confident young lady with wisdom beyond her years. Due to being raised by a kingdom who had stolen her, she was often an outcast amongst the citizens, and really only knew formality and honesty - sometimes too brutally honest without realizing it. If she has an issue with someone, she was raised to not be afraid to tell them how she feels. Despite her over-honesty, she is known to be kind and calm. Her demeanor is that of a stern-yet-caring woman, and can usuallly leave a good first impression. She'll often keep her emotions of worry, pain, and sadness to herself to deal with things for herself in private, She also takes great joy in singing and sewing. If she is ever forced into a battle words cannot settle, Azura has two assets for her - a lance to defend herself with, and also a mysterious power she has as a Songstress to help boost morale of friends as well as sometimes even calm her opponent. Though singing, she is virtually defenseless unless an ally is defending her - especially if she fails use her powerful voice to calm an enemy. HISTORY Azura was born in the kingdom of Valla to Queen Arete, in a continent inter-locked in problems of its own. Her father, who she never learned the name of, was the best friend of a man deemed 'The Dragon God', though went by Anankos. Foreseeing his own insanity, he taught Arete a song. 'Lost In Thoughts All Alone', which had three very unique verses to be used in correct situations. Anankos, within months after foreseeing his insanity, fell to it. He destroyed Valla - even making it a curse so nobody could speak his name or that of Valla itself, lest they be vaporized immediately. Arete's younger sister, Mikoto, and her son Corrin, where the only other two survivors. Every victim of Anankos would be used as a phantom shell of their former self, and serve as his puppets. Due to Valla being concealed in a canyon most thought would lead to certain death, the only escape was upwardsbetween either the glory-seeking Nohr or the more peaceful Hoshido, also sharing much cultural diversity. Arete took Azura to Nohr, where she would marry King Garon. Azura was going to be raised as a royal, though had to wait in line behind any biological children of Garon. Little is known how or why, but Garon and Arete led a successful defense against some of Anankos' army, but at the cost of their lives. Seeing an oppurtunity, Anankos possed and even posed as Garon with the intent of causing a war between Hoshido and Nohr. He would get King Sumeragi of Hoshido to abide to meeting for a treaty using Garon as his puppet. Sumeragi brought his young, impressionable step-son with him. As Sumeragi prepared for their meeting, 'Garon' had him shot down by archers, stole his step-son, and initiated the war he wanted. This would prove to be his mistake, as the step-son was none other than Corrin, who was destined to be part of a duo to defeat Anankos - the other being Azura due to knowing ancient ritualistic performance from Arete. In another fatal flaw, he would urge Hoshido to attempt to recapture Corrin, but instead leave Azura undefended. Both kidnapped children grew up and were raised as if they were royals of their new countries. Many in Hoshido despised Azura, who most viewed as a hopeful trading chip for Corrin, though that plan ultimately failed. She was reunited with her aunt, Mikoto, who had married King Sumeragi and even taken his place as ruler when he was assassinated. One day, Corrin was sent to investigate an abandoned fort that brought him into Hoshido, where he would be recognized by Mikoto, her retainers, and Sumeragi's children. Anankos tried to kill Azura, Corrin, and Mikoto in one clean assassination, but only Mikoto died in an explosive incident. Corrin and Azura soon found themselves in the middle of a ful-out war between Hoshido and Nohr, and chose to back neither side. Being declared traitors by Nohr and Hoshido, they hid and gathered up an army who they gained by trust. Soon, all four of Garon's children and Sumeragi's children would join, believing in the two and going to Valla. Once there, the duo explained everything to their followers, and fought their way through the country. On the way, both Arete and Mikoto would appear as puppets for Anankos, but would be reluctantly defeated. When they challenged Anankos, Corrin's blade, the Alpha Yato, became the sword Omega Yato, destined to defeat Anankos when empowered by Azura's magical song 'Lost In Thoughts All Alone'. After Anankos was finished, and all the souls her claimed freed to move on - including Arete and Mikoto - Azura and Corrin got married and decided to rule Valla together. With the war ended between Hoshido and Nohr, the newly-crowned queen, who had taken her mother's place, decided to extended her reach to other kingdoms, and travelled alone to Misthaven after Regina's defeat, though would be caught in her curse. Corrin and the other two kingdoms would shield themselves from outside involvement after what seemed to be the death of Azura, being able to supply itself and keep their population under control. During the curse, Azura, now brain-washed by Regina, went by Layla Grey, and would be the owner and main performer at the 'Aqua Hall', named due to water seperating the audience from the stage. She would also live there, managing even janitorial duties. She would often be called upon by Regina to sing a younger Henry to sleep, and managed to form a bond with him. After the curse broke, Azura would always help Belle and the Blue Fairy manage the town whenever Regina, Emma, and the Charmings weren't present, though is know ready RP SAMPLE Azura sat and looked at her reflection in the water. Part of her was happy to be her again and not be required to perform a few times a week on stage, singing whatever dumb song suggestions that would be thrown at her. Though another part envied how when she was Layla Grey, she didn't remember who and what she was taken from... She tried to smile and kept herself from frowning, leading to her having a regular face - stern and serious. This was how she'd been since Emma Swan broke the curse - unknowing of how she felt. It wasn't like Corrin could wait for her forever, even if she found a way back home. Besides, everyone she knew would be almost triple her age, and she had acquintances in Storybrooke. She walked onto her stage, pushing a secret button to have a nice little bridge suddenly connect the stage to the entrance of the building. She crossed it, wondering what havoc would be brought today - from the kids that lived there wanting herto be a live radio to some new antagonist that threatened Storybrooke itself. |
