Mufasa
Talfrid Darrow
PERSONALITY King Mufasa is a very benevolent and loving man. He has a very big heart, with room enough to love anyone that needs a touch of kindness in their lives. With that, though, comes a profound amount of responsibility and wisdom, and he has learned in his time as King that there is a fine line between kindness and weakness. He is smart, and insightful, never assuming anything before he has the reason to. He is regal at all times, holding himself up proudly and keeping very good care of his appearance, knowing that the way he presents himself is just as important as how he acts. He must be Kingly at all times, even away from his Kingdom. Though royal, he is not spoiled, and he offers respect to those that serve him and those that may hold more power over him. Whatever the case, he is a cautious man who does not seek to make enemies before friends. His first tactic is always to speak, to find a peaceable solution to any problem. That does not mean, however, he does not know how to defend himself. He is strong in mind and body, and will turn to whatever tactic he must to uphold his beliefs, and protect those he loves and rules over. He is dedicated to his Kingdom, to his people, and to his family. He would die for them, without hesitation, if it meant sparing them a worse fate. That being said, he does have a bit of a temper, and does not like it when people are rude or sneaky, and has no tolerance for bad behavior. He does not particularly like villains, and does not humor them for long if he thinks they cannot be changed, or if he believes they’ve proven themselves to be dark. He draws very clear lands in the sand, and it is sometimes difficult to cross between the two. Grey areas, and those that dwell in them, can be hard for him to understand and know how to deal with. HISTORY Mufasa was king of a thriving Kingdom, far from the Enchanted Forest and all its problems. They were well beyond the reach of the curse, and were all but oblivious to the magical issues of that far off land. He called his Kingdom the Pridelands, where life was good and the people were happy. Then a stranger came to their lands, and preyed on the darkness in Mufasa’s isolated brother’s heart. Together, the stranger and Taka brought magic to the land where it was not well known, and certainly not used, to usurp the throne from under Mufasa and his family. The King fought bravely, and wounded his brother in the process, taking one of his eyes but losing his rule as the stranger and the newly named Scar forced him to his knees. They were overrun by powerful new foes, vicious animals the like they had never seen before, who fought like slaves and knew only the command to destroy. An illness began spreading through the denizens of the Pridelands, twisting and mutating them, and forcing them to serve the dark overlords that had seized control so violently and turning them into monstrous soldiers. Mufasa and his family fled with as many as they could, but were hunted down like animals. He needed a way to protect the small community that had managed to escape and make a small, secret settlement in the jungles around their former home lands. He left to seek magic of his own to help them, but was gone for a very long time in his search, tracking down leads that eventually brought him to the Enchanted Forest. Just in time to get swept up in the second curse, and be taken back to Storybrooke. He spends his time looking for his family, and for a way to get back home to save his people. Who he has never given up on. RP SAMPLE The King of the Pridelands felt far removed from his royal life. Everything he had known was gone from him, in more ways than he properly knew how to deal with. Not only was his Kingdom under siege, and nearly lost, the last time he saw it, he was now in another land entirely. It was lost to him twice, to this strange world, and to his evil, traitorous brother. He could not hold on to that anger, however, or it would consume him. And losing himself to darkness would not help restore him to his home, to his throne, or to his family. In this strange place, Mufasa had picked up what pieces he could. He had learned the history of the town, the curses that brought people there, and of those who had the most power. When he needed them, he would find them, but first he needed a plan. He needed to find some sort of sign that there was something to go back to. Or, maybe, some of his home had been transported here with him, and he just did not recognize it. He wanted to find them, his son, his wife. If they were here, he would find them. He had gone to the Enchanted Forest to find one rumored to possess incredible power, one who could rival the darkness that had already consumed the Pridelands. One who, perhaps, would have helped. For a price, certainly: that was what all the tales warned of. Finding this sorcerer meant making a deal with a heavy toll to pay, but Mufasa had been willing. If it meant saving his home and driving out the terrors that had taken it over, he would have sacrificed his life. Everything he had to give, he would have offered. But he never got the chance to make that deal. He never found that sorcerer, the fabled Dark One. So he had his new identity, picking up what small pieces he could by starting life in this little town. He called himself Talfrid, and owned a book store on the edge of town. He often traded with the library, supplying them with books and getting new or interesting volumes in return. It wasn't much of a life, but it gave him access to information, which was always invaluable. |
