Belle
Belle French
PERSONALITY Belle is a very intelligent young woman who loves to read books, mostly adventures and romances, dreaming of one day being a hero herself. She's been a help for the heroes of Storybrooke more than once, given her extensive knowledge in books, and because of her relationship with Rumple. However, despite this intelligence, Belle is incredibly trusting, and can be very gullible, especially when it comes to someone she really wants to trust, such as Rumple, or even Hook. Belle believes the stories from others, partially because she is still very naive. For most of her life she was in a castle or locked up in another castle, so she really didn't get much experience outside of the castles. Most of her knowledge comes from the stories she has read, which leads to a very narrow and untrue view of how the world works, though her life in Storybrooke is teaching her this. However, she has had a good few adventures out of her castle, such as to Arendelle, the occasional trip with Rumple such as the 'hunt of Robing Hood', helping while the main heroes of Storybrooke were in Neverland, and finally her adventure in Camelot. She stands up for herself, though she ends up seeing the good in those around her at the start and it can make it easy to manipulate the trusting young woman. Belle can be a little snooty to those around her, because she knows that she is smart. This is partly due to the fact that her involvement is highly underrated by the heroes, and not often utilized, even though she wants to be a hero herself. She still wants to save everyone, but there are times that she believes herself superior to those around her, though she is working on that. This snooty, I'm smart and I know it, can also be taken as, 'I know I'm smart, listen to me!', almost a cry for attention when no one wants to listen, even though she has information that is vital to the current mission at hand. Seeing the best in the Dark One was no easy task. Most women would be scared of him, but Belle was confident, and was able to see beyond the scary exterior, to see a man inside him, a good man, a man she wants him to be, and no believes that he is. Belle can see the good in just about everyone who crosses their paths, and will give everyone a chance if they let her, which might lead to getting burned, but Belle would think it a necessary sacrifice for even just one person to turn to their side, to redeem just one person... she'd be willing to be burned many times over trying to help others. Belle believes that everyone can be good if given a chance, and will fight for the goodness inside her love for as long as she can. Banishing him Rumplestiltskin after he acted up and tried to take Emma's magic and threatened to kill Hook, was due to the fact it was the only way she could think of in the emotional moment to make him learn the lesson he needed to learn. On that note, Belle is just as much of a person of the heart as she is of the mind. She thinks with her heart when it comes to what they should do, and then she figures the best way to do the task which she wants to pursue, primarily through reading and researching and knowing what they are up against, or relying on her past knowledge, especially in a heated moment or any time books are unavailable. HISTORY The ogres never liked humans. Humans never liked ogres. Hate spawned hate and more hate and that was not good news for the human country of Avonlea, ruled by King Maurice and Queen Colette. The ogres were getting awfully close the small kingdom and they were unable to defend themselves due to their small size. So, King Maurice arranged a meeting between his daughter, Belle, and Sir Gaston, son of the powerful Lord Legume. Belle initially denied even meeting the man, but in the end she agreed to at least take a walk. At first he seemed very charming and kind, and not at all like the stories that she had heard about the man. However, when the two of them found a young ogre trapped in a hole, she convinced Gaston to allow her to show if the ogre was really trying to harm them, since it was just a little child ogre. After discovering a mirror that would show murderous intent, Belle rode to retrieve the mirror, and left Gaston to guard the ogre. When she came back mirror in hand, however, Gaston had been attacked by the ogre and they began hunting for the ogre, no doubt now that it had meant harm. However, Belle followed them as they hunted, wanting to show them the ogre probably didn't mean any harm and stood between the ogre and Gaston when they found the ogre. The mirror broke, but when she looked into the last little piece, she saw the Gaston had murderous intent in mind, and she realized, the ogre attacked him because he started torturing the poor beast. And so she convinced them to let the ogre go. However, she agreed to marry Gaston as it was either agree or the kingdom was doomed. It wasn't long after that the Ogre got incredibly close, so close in fact, one ogre managed to attack the castle they were staying in and her mother was killed in the attack. However, Belle forgot the whole incident, but wanted to know more than anything what had happened, so she could move on. Insisting on restoring her memory while her father said she shouldn't, she read up on a land called Arendelle and how there were rock trolls who were adept at memory magic. Belle sneaked out of the castle and made her way towards the new land. There she met a girl named Anna who was also consulting with the trolls about something. They traveled together for a short time. Belle indeed got what she wanted, something that would restore her memory, however, she had a choice, her memory or saving Anna. At first she had picked her memory, and it was too late when she finally made a reach to try to save Anna, believing she had ended up killing her companion because of a witch. Belle went back to Avonlea, back to the castle she grew up in, and the ogres were getting to be an even worse problem. Even with her betrothal to Gaston and Lord LeGume's forces, the ogres were still advancing. They were going to lose. However, on her travels in Arendelle, she had learned of a sorcerer, a dark sorcerer, who may help. Her father had heard of him and said they shouldn't, but there was no other way. It was either ask the man for help or everyone in their small kingdom was going to die. Finally, her father agreed and they summoned the sorcerer known as the Dark One. The Dark One arrived as they were on the brink of death, and proposed a deal. He would help them with their 'little war' if in exchanged Belle would go with him forever. Of course, Gaston and her father immediately refused, but Belle stood up and said she would go. After all it was her choice and this way, she could save her family and her friends. The deal was struck, and she left the castle with the Dark One, believing she would never see her family again. Well, at least she didn't have to marry Gaston. Rumplestiltskin, the Dark One, brought her to his castle where he promptly gave her a room. In the dungeon. Of course, she was sad and upset for a long time that she couldn't see her family again. While grateful they were alright due to the deal, she couldn't help but feel homesick, and sad that she would never see her father or her friends ever again. She would cook and clean, and do everything the Dark One told her. However, one day a thief came into the castle, and Rumplestiltskin caught him, and started to torture the thief. While the Dark One was gone for a short time, Belle released the thief. When Rumplestiltskin came home and discovered what she had done, he was angry. He took the thief's bow which he had confiscated when he first capture the thief, and started hunting down the man with Belle at his side so she could see him kill the thief. Rumplestiltskin was sure he'd carry through and kill the man when they found him, holding his bow up pointed right at the man. However, when Belle pointed out that the thief had a wife and a child on the way, and he only used the wand he'd stolen to cure his sick wife, Rumplestiltskin 'missed' with a bow imbued with magic that prevented missing. Belle knew that he had spared the man and hugged the Dark One. That was when it all started. She started to see the good inside of him. She started to see past his thick skin and see the man beneath it all. Through falling through curtains, to chipping cups, to learning more about the man, she slowly fell in love, without even realizing it at first. She'd challenge him, and she'd always let him know that no, he wasn't a beast no matter how many time he said it. They teased and bantered, and eventually, he gifted her a rose. That was the day that he told her about his son, and then let her go to town to get straw, no guarantee she would come back. She of course, left at first, but after meeting a nice lady on the road, she came back with the idea that 'true love's kiss can break any curse' and well, if he just wasn't cursed he could be that man she saw, he could be not as dark or evil, he could just be the man she loved. So she came back to the castle and they talked for a short time before she kissed him. At first it was working, but then the darkness took a hold of him when he realized what was happening. He got angry, yelled, and it was not a pleasant time. He through her in the dungeon again. She knew she'd screwed up, but she just wanted to have that man. Perhaps it was selfish of her. She knew it was very upsetting especially when she heard the faint sound of things being destroyed from the upper parts of the castle. Belle stayed in her dungeon for a time when finally Rumple came in and told her to leave the castle. Belle gave him one final good-bye, calling him a coward and everything, and left. She ended up in a dwarf tavern, where she heard about an adventure, the Yaoguai. She followed a few men who ended up dumping her after she told them what a book she'd picked up told her, leading them astray. Finally, she ended up going to where the beast would be, and met up with a warrior named Mulan. She managed to figure out the secret of the beast, and ended up using fairy dust she'd received from a dwarf of the tavern she worked in before, and changed the Yaoguai back into the man he was supposed to be. After that, she was sure that she should go back to Rumple. However, he plans were cut short when Queen Regina found her and locked her up in a cage to use her against her love. She was trapped in a tower for some time, having few visitors, though one was extremely rude and knocked her out because she wouldn't agree to help the visitor kill Rumple. And so, she stayed in that tower until the cursed hit. For twenty-eight years of repetition, Belle was locked in an asylum, not knowing who she was, but knowing she was there. Occasionally a woman would look through to see her, smile and then walk off. Belle didn't think she was insane, but she figured all insane people thought that. She was able to read a few books during her time there, though not many. However, near the time the curse would break, a man came and freed her. He told her to find Mr. Gold and tell her Regina locked her up. And so she did exactly what her savior told her to do. When she met Mr. Gold she was highly confused, and he seemed highly emotional about seeing her for some reason despite her not remembering anything. Until the curse broke and they were trekking through the forest when all her memories hit her at once. Finally they were able to be together, even while he brought magic to Storybrooke. Of course, their relationship was not easy, they broke up for a short time when he tried to keep things from her, but eventually they got back on the right track, as he was showing more and more of that man she saw in him for so long. He would actually be honest with her. He told her about his son, though of course the full story she didn't expect and he didn't give it to her. But he gave enough. However. There is always a however with these two isn't there? From interrupted burger dates to someone doing something they probably shouldn't, their love never has been easy. But then again, love never is, and its always worth all the trouble. When Rumple planned to go out of Storybrooke and find his son, he crossed the line, retained his memories and then, boom. A shot was fired and Belle fell over the line, losing all of her memories of the Enchanted Forest. Seeing as he never had an actual identity programmed into her, she didn't know who she was. She stayed in the hospital no idea what was going on, and how her love met his son, brought him back while her love was on the brink of death, how an evil witch nearly killed him and took his power, only for their lives to be traded killing the witch and healing her love due to the witch's daughter being tricked by her love's grandson's grandmother, who also happened to be the step daughter of the witch's daughter. However, she 'regained' her memories when the witch's daughter came by and 'gave' her memories to her. She believed she was Lacey French. It wasn't for a long time, and of course, she and Rumple were dating during that time, though Lacey's tastes were more of the darker sides of Rumple as opposed to the good parts. However, when the world was ending and Storybrooke was being erased along with everyone in it, Rumple restored her memories, and of course, the heroes saved the town, though Henry was captured by a couple of non-magical invaders who brought him to another land, Neverland, and they believed Rumple's son to be killed. Rumple went to save his grandson, and thought he'd die int he process, leaving Belle behind. She had a chance to help them and she did, befriending the Darlings who had come to stop them from helping those in Neverland. When he returned with his son, who they thought to be dead, and his grandson safe and sound, Belle was relieved. But of course, there was always something else. Turned out Rumple's father, Peter Pan, had taken control of Henry's body and was trying to enact a new curse. They managed to switch Pan back to his own body and Rumple ended up killing Pan, which in turn killed himself. Belle was obviously incredibly distraught and fell to the ground in grief. The curse Pan had started was unstoppable but they managed to change it to bring them back to the Enchanted Forest instead of curse them into endlessness as Pan had tried to do. In the Enchanted Forest, Baelfire and Belle went on an adventure to try to bring back Rumplestiltskin. They were tricked by the Wicked Witch who indeed helped them bring back Rumple, but at the cost of a life: Baelfire's. Rumple held onto Bae and fused with him, and Belle could do nothing about it. He went insane and he was locked up in a cage in his castle. Belle could do nothing about it. Belle had to watch as her love descended into madness. Eventually, another curse was enacted though only the memories of what happened in the Enchanted Forest since Pan was erased. Eventually Belle learned of Rumple being alive, and she tried to help free him but his dagger was in the hands of the Wicked Witch. After the whole situation was resolved, though Belle played a small part in the whole ordeal, Rumple proposed to her and she accepted. He gave her his dagger, and while at first she denied it, he insisted on it. They married in a small ceremony with Dr. Hopper as their officiant, and her father had been there to hand her off to her beast, even if he didn't quite like the whole relationship between the two of them. Their marriage was going great, Belle thought. Well, until she found out the dagger he'd given her was a fake and he'd been doing bad things behind her back since their marriage. Great way to start off a marriage. Belle ended up finding the true dagger and used it to stop Rumple from doing any more bad, commanding him to leave Storybrooke, believing they would never see each other again. Then, Rumple appeared in the library, having escaped from Emma. He tried to convince her to leave, but Belle refused, and was chased by Merida, who turned into a bear, but Rumple came and saved her. After Rumple fought Hook, Belle told Rumple that she needed time to think, to protect herself from possibly getting into a bad relationship again. However, after he sent her off to explore the world like she always wanted to, Henry called to explain the relationship, and she realized that Rumple had lied to her, because he was about to die. A selfless thing. So, she went to him, and they began their relationship anew, not knowing he was already hiding something from her. When he came back, he avoided her. She'd started a relationship with Will Scarlet, but that wasn't really anything. However, she didn't know it, but Regina had stolen her heart and used her against Rumple. Eventually, Rumple and Will teamed up to take back her heart and he returned it to her. She ended up coming to Rumple when he was dying, admitting she never loved Will. The darkness was taken from her love and he fell into a coma. She ventured to Camelot with the crew of heroes where she was helpful to Merlin, to Merida, and the whole crew with her book-ish knowledge and strong will. When they came back, Rumple was still in a coma, and she watched over him. She was in granny's picking up a meal real fast when she got word from an enchanted flower that he had woken. But when she ran to go see him, he was gone. The next she saw him, he was in the library elevator where they shared a few words. She wasn't quite ready to open her heart up to him. However, after an adventure with a bear, their relationship started to heal, even though it wasn't quite ready. She met him at the wishing well after he fought a Dark One Hook and told him she wasn't ready to start again, though she was happy he was being the hero she always knew he could be. After he sent her out to the world and she got word that the whole team of heroes was slated to die, but they were all find now, Belle hurried back and met up with Rumple. Moved by the selflessness of sending her off to live the life he believed she always wanted, she decided that she was ready then to start again with her love. Not long after they made up, Rumple joined the heroes to save the now dead Hook from the Underworld. She didn't know it, but she was pregnant. And well, the father was the Dark One once more. Rumple and everyone soon came back, though apparently they brought a few guests with them, some good and some bad, but Belle was mostly happy to see Rumple again. RP SAMPLE ** Based before they come back from the Underworld; hopefully this isn't too bad, wasn't quite sure what topic to base it on, so I just randomly came up with a setting and a basic open thread opener from a bit in the past of the current plot. ** Rumple had left and gone to the Underworld to help the heroes. Belle was quite happy that he was being a hero like she always wanted, but she couldn't help but wish he was here with her. He'd said they were only going to be gone for a short amount of time, but it'd been longer than she'd expected. She missed his warmth next to her each night. She missed his touch, his smile, his witty come backs, their banter. However, when he would finally make it back, it'd be worth the wait, she was sure. And for now she must simply continue. However, today she was feeling a bit nauseous, and ended up staying half the day in the little manor she called home. The pink house was a wonderful place, large enough to get lost in, and small enough to not have to spend days getting herself situated and knowing the place. Yet, she knew she couldn't just stick around the house all day, and she was starting to feel better anyways. She dressed herself in a short skirt, tights, and a pretty blouse. She grabbed a light coat, just in case she caught a chill, and made her way towards Granny's. While he friend Ruby hadn't been around for awhile, having left Storybrooke, Belle had found that she loved going to Granny's partially for the burgers, which were her favorite food, and also because Granny was incredibly kind and the whole place felt warm and welcoming. Belle sat down at a table for two and looked at the empty chair for a second thinking about Rumple before looking up at Granny who nodded, knowing exactly what she wanted to order already. Soon a glass of ice tea was on her table and she began to sip the drink as she waited for her food. Hopefully, eating a bit of something would stop the nausea from coming back. Hopefully, it was as she thought and nothing to worry about. Hopefully, Rumple would come home soon. |
