Even though he was the Dark One and didn't need to sleep, he was feeling quite exhausted. He'd been through quite a lot, so it was hardly a surprise. Not only had he been attacked by Hook and had his heart ripped out, but he'd then been tortured by Zelena with it and made to endure days without it, fearing he would be consumed by the vast amounts of darkness inside of him while also having to suffer through feeling nothing for his own wife and family. It had been a worse brand of torture than the pain of having his heart crushed or cutting into his own flesh with a knife. He was glad he had gotten his heart back, but it had then been at the cost of losing his dagger.
Which, of course, was a massive worry as well. Still, Zelena hadn't done anything with it yet, and even when she did use it, it was better than a Dark One without a heart roaming around the city. Though that didn't calm his mind, and it didn't help him relax much, either. He was on edge and very cranky, even with his purified heart back where it belonged.
He couldn't take any more surprises.
Sighing heavily, he went about cleaning some of the brass items in his shop, just keeping himself busy for the sake of his sanity. Belle wasn't there, and neither was anyone else. Thankfully, that included some of the people he definitely didn't want to see, like Milah and Hook. The man stopped his work for a moment, leaning against the counter and bowing his head. He closed his eyes, moving a hand to the bridge of his nose to rub away a forming headache before running his fingers over his scruffy face. He hadn't shaved since before he had his heart taken away- there really hadn't been the time to care about personal appearances.
All he needed was some time to just... stop and think about everything. The threat of the Underworld, Zelena and his dagger, and even Belle's pregnancy- there were plenty of things he needed to wrap his mind around. Unfortunately, even for an immortal time wasn't always one's friend.
It was certainly working against him this time around.
