Rumple was still getting used to Milah being alive and in Storybrooke. A part of him wanted to continue hating her for what had happened in their past, but he found that part of his heart was getting dimmer and dimmer every day. Mostly, he just felt awkward around her. Like she was someone he didn't really know and he was learning to get along with her all over again. Perhaps, in time, he might consider her a friend, though it still seemed like a far off dream.
In the meantime, he could only offer her some help and support every now and again while she got used to the town. Spending the time with her helped with his confusing feelings, at least most of the time. Whenever they brought up their past together, it still made him a bit... prickly.
But, considering he was the Dark One, he supposed that things could have been a lot worse for her. This time around, he had managed not to kill her in his feelings of betrayal.
He would consider that a major win on his part.
Today, he had invited her to lunch, just so he could check in on how she was doing and if she had spoken to Neal. A part of him was concerned about what she would tell him, but he supposed he couldn't really predict how the conversation between mother and son had gone. It wasn't like he had his seer powers anymore. Even if he did, it didn't work like that- he couldn't peek in on conversations. He just... wasn't sure what he wanted to see happen between them. He wanted Neal to be happy, but he also didn't want Milah to be forgiven so easily.
More confusion.
He had asked Milah to meet him at the park, if only because it was a nice day and he didn't want to be around too many other people just in case he ended up getting angry about the things he heard. the creatures from the Underworld weren't generally around during the day, either. Perhaps they were unable to venture out in the daylight, or maybe they just knew it was a busier time and it would not work in their favor to attack. Whatever the case, he felt it was an okay time to meet with Milah and have another discussion.
Of course, he was foolish to be thinking that.
He sighed to himself as he looked around the park. It was quiet, probably because everyone was too afraid to leave their homes at the moment, and he was glad. He sat himself down on the bench, setting his cane against the bench beside his legs. Perhaps she wouldn't notice that he was back to using it- he certainly wasn't happy about it. Stupid magic being harder to control than he had anticipated.
