EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENS, HAPPENS BY DESIGN. AND THERE'S NOTHING WE CAN DO ABOUT IT.
Neal looked at the heart, and, was surprised to see it pure, rather then dark. In a way it made him happy to see that. Hopefully it could stay that way. He did have some faith in his father, but, a part of him was telling him that something would happen to cause the darkness to come back through. Maybe it was just the lost boy part of him, telling him that the man hadn't chosen him over the dagger, so why would it be different now? But, he still had the dagger, just in case things backfired or got messy.
As long as he had it, then his papa couldn't do anything to him. Neal knew that his father was probably feeling conflicted, like he did when it came to trusting and having faith in him. It was just as painful as it had been before. Half of him loved and trusted the man, and, half of him still hated him.
Neal just hoped that he wouldn't have to do something he would regret later.
Making his way closer towards his papa, Neal raised his eyebrows as he watched his father step away from him. Neal knew pain all too well, but, he wanted to just let his father have the emotions back, so, that Neal could feel like he had his father back. Neal wasn't going to crush his heart or do something with it, all he was doing was putting it back in his father's chest.
Pushing it inside him, Neal watched his father, waiting for some kind of reaction. His glance went towards his shoulder, as he felt his father leaning on it for support. Neal still waited for a reaction to know whether it had worked or not. Seeing that smile caused Neal to return it with one of his own.
"You're welcome papa" Neal said, and, smiled again as he felt his father hug him. It was a feeling he'd missed, and, it gave him a warmth in his heart. Staying in the hug for a bit longer, Neal pulled back slightly as he looked at his father. "Um, papa, I don't have to be back at work for about an hour. So, did you maybe want to get lunch with me?"
