Rumple always liked collection day- it was the one time a month where he got to march around town to the various businesses and buildings that he technically owned to collect the rent. He got to intimidate people and throw around his power and no one could call him a villain because it was just a matter of business. There was nothing wrong with a landlord collecting rent from his tenants.
Of course, he didn't get to torment people quite as much as he used to. For one thing, he felt really guilty about it these days, and for another, well, everyone knew he was darker than ever. No one really wanted to piss him off when he had so much magic at his disposal, so no one went out of their way to avoid paying their rent.
His day of collection had once again brought him to the convent, one of his favorite places to get money from. It was no secret that he disliked the fairies, so forcing them to pay him money was a small way of having his revenge against them each and every month out of the year.
He loved it when they didn't have the money- he was just hoping they would come up a little short this time.
True, he was supposed to be turning over a new leaf, but that didn't mean it had to apply to everyone, right? The fairies, especially their blue leader, had wronged him in the past. Cost him his son. It was their fault he had suffered so long. Then again, he HAD sucked them into an evil dimension inside of a hat where darkness and evil lurked, but that was... not enough.
Nothing was enough to pay for how much pain he had felt losing his son.
So he moved into the convent, looking around for someone to demand the money from.
