It was strange of course that she was back alive, and able to live and breathe. To be in the same town as her ex-husband and her son. It was of course one of those things she never imagined would happen in the first place. The fact remained she did not hold Rumple as entirely responsible for where she ended up than she had herself. Because Rumple may have killed her but she was the reason she had died. Had hurt him to the point that his anger had gotten the better of him. But she was grateful that now, being in the same town as he was, that they could in fact be civil. Was it awkward? Yes. But she could see the light coming from him. The light from the man she once loved. And a part of her always would love him but she wasn't in love with him. Not anymore. But she still cared a great deal for him.
Would they ever get to a point where it wouldn't be awkward and they could simply be friends, like they had been at the start of their marriage? Perhaps, perhaps. Time would tell. Did she really know the man? Not so much anymore, but she wanted to. And yet it meant getting along with him all over again. She wanted to consider him a friend but she knew that would take a while. A far off dream perchance. Now she was grateful that the last time that she ran into him at his shop that he hadn't immediately killed her. As she had kind of expected he would simply because of her betrayal. Still it was nice being able to be civil with her ex-husband. It helped with the confusing feelings quite a bit.
Though it was not helping her with how she should feel or what she should do most times. Though despite all that happened in their rather disheveled past, she was grateful not to die again, at least not by his hand. The fact that he had invited her to lunch made her feel almost relieved. They were on the path to how they had once been, without love being involved. Taking a deep breath she had awaited for the moment where she was supposed to meet Rumple at the park.
It hadn't been very long ago that she had met up with her son for the first time since he was five yeas old. And although he had not forgiven her yet, she hoped some day he would. If he had the same kind of gentleness (although surprising) that his father had. Which her son had been extremely hurt with her actions, which she had expected. It wasn't all going to be sunshine and daisies getting back to something she once had with him, even if he couldn't remember it. Still she hoped for the calmness. For the kindness to continue. For light and warmth to enter where it had once only been darkness and despair.
The last thing she wanted to do was piss Rumple off, as she had once seen how angry he could get and the last thing she wanted was for him to be so angry again that he killed her or at least seriously injured either herself or someone else. Of course, now that he'd turned over a "new leaf" she hoped that'd never be the case. Because she didn't want him killing anyone else, and from what it sounded like he hadn't. At least not since he came to this sleepy little town. Though she was sure he probably thought about it once in a while.
She couldn't help but wonder, if she was able to get out of the Underworld, who else came through? Or the better question was what? Because she knew she wasn't the only one who was able to escape. If that had been the case then the town was fortunate. 'Course that was also a fool's errand to believe such a thing. She knew not to keep Rumple waiting, as she made her way into the park. It was remarkably quiet, which meant one of two things. Either everyone was busy or they were to afraid to leave their homes.
Either way she was glad so that no one could assume things. Looking around she walked into the park, and soon found her ex-husband sitting on a bench. She finally reached him and stood before him. Although she recognized that he was back to using a cane she wasn't going to question it just yet. As after all, it wasn't her place to ask, was it? "Hello Rumple. How are you doing?" She figured she would at least try and be calm and not ruffle his feathers as it were. She knew not to anger the Dark One. Because well that magic, contained or not was awfully dangerous!
